Rex Shi is a user experience designer who crafts elegant solutions through a human-centered design approach, helping people build delightful products, services to promote overall experiences. 

Rex works as a senior user experience designer at Cognizant Softvision. He finished his master’s degree at Centre for Digital Media while working as an instructional assistant for a user experience master level course. During his undergraduate life in School of Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University, he sharpened his extensive tool kits: user research, interaction design, visual design, video production, front-end developing, etc.

Rex previously worked for Digitalist Global, PwC Experience Centre , Faculty of Applied Science at Simon Fraser University. He also finished projects related to branding and product design for local businesses in Vancouver, Canada as a freelancer. By closely dealing with clients like Accenture and SIGGRAPH, he intensified competencies such as the product thinking, agile development, experience of the scrum product owner, etc.

Rex is a fast learner and always passionate to explore new challenges. With full empathic understanding with various stakeholders, Rex desires to leverage design collaboration inclusively with his passion for design system and design operation. To broaden the knowledge of service design, he gained a human-centered service design certificate from IDEO. Last year, he led his master’s school team to receive the award of Vancouver User Experience Awards 2018 in the student category.

Aiming to gain more entrepreneurial experience, he currently works with his team to deliver IoT devices enhanced meditation room for the sake of releasing the pressure for the user who works at co-working space. The current iterative version has been launched on Google Chrome Web Store.

He loves film cameras, motors, Franz Liszt and skateboard with his Goldendoodle "Ginger".
